Trail Ridge Road is the highest
highway in the United States, with much of the road above timberline. Its 50 mile scenic
drive includes 11 miles at 11,000 feet above sea level, with 4 miles above 12,000 feet
(3600 meters). The highest point of the road is at 12,183 feet (3,716 meters) above sea
level. |
 |
The Road gives views of many spectacular peaks and deep valleys of the
Colorado Rocky Mountains. The highest areas of the road include alpine tundra in a very
fragile environment. An Alpine Visitor Center presents exhibits of the alpine tundra. |

Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain shall be brought low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the
rough ways shall be made smooth, and all shall see the salvation of God! Luke 3:4-6, Isaiah 40:4-5
